Design question....

Well, I am coming to my friends in blog land to help me out with a design question.  I have moved my buffet from the hall into the dining room.  It can actually go in two different places.  The question is I am not sure where it would look best.  On the wall where the window is, I thought it would look good with a mirror over it, but it seems too close to the window.  What do you think?  I know it does fit in the other space where the tea card is.  Should I switch them?

Mirror over top here.

I will be waiting patiently for all your advice.
Thanks!

Susan

  1. Because I am such a visual person, could you go ahead and move it where the tea cart is and take a picture? Then I will know for sure. LOL

    Seriously, could you? :)

  2. Yes, I will do that. We have a wedding today, so I will take the pic and upload it tonight. Thanks!

  3. Well, I think it needs a mirror above it and you can't have that if it's where the cart is. So, I say leave it where it is and I think the mirror will be the "icing on the cake." Let us know what you decide to do.

  4. hmmm... i'm no design guru, but i say switch them. i wouldn't put a mirror that close to the window, i don't think, and i think the smaller piece in the space next to the window will give the illusion of more space!

but i also agree with the above - pictures of the switch would be lovely, too!

  5. When you walk into the room, which wall is the focal point? That should be the space that you make most noteworthy regardless of the window. You have fun furniture to work with so this is great.

  6. My instinct would be to switch them, but I'm no expert. My mama has a tea cart just like that in her entry with a mirror above it!

  7. I would leave it and do the mirror above it!! I think it will give an open fill by adding the mirror, but I am a huge fan of the more mirrors the better,Kathysue

  8. If you lived in England, I would tell you to put the mirror opposite the window so you could bring more light into the room...but it looks plenty light already to me (I'm envious). Maybe if the mirror doesn't seem to work over the buffet you need to look for a good-sized painting or something larger than that clock. I tend to agree that the half wall won't do the buffet justice, but like others I tend to need visual aids to be more certain.
